1st Sunday January 3

So first Church was today.It was a community non denominational church that my mother attends. We put our toe in first instead of just diving in. Well we were running a few minutes late , Service was 11 we got there at 11:03 . First impression for me was , not your typical church .Looked more like a auditorium then the typical church I have been too in the past. No stain glass windows , no crosses, no pews . Just lights , drums , chairs , big screen TVs & microphones. No bibles or hymns in the chairs /pews. No typical old man suit preacher. Just a normal looking guy in a sweater & khakis. So we find my mom , sit down & listen to the band . Yes there's a band & singers on the stage singing. Then a funny video on the big screens about momentum . One thing I really enjoyed , but what did it have to do with church ? Didn't get that connection. Then we heard the preacher talk about New Years Resolutions. How good for our 1st church of the new year. He talked about finding a resolution that would affect you not this year but years down the road . Great were on the right path !!! Why do you have to stand to sing or pray ? Can god only hear you if your standing ? Does he hear you better then ? Would it be better if we yelled & went outside ? Good music , not the stuffy , falling asleep feel , not churchy enough , too much standing , were just some of the thoughts of my family. Is there a church you can raise your hand in the middle of service & ask a question ? We decided to rank the Churches so we would now what we all thought , the kids gave it a 2 & 3. Me a 5 , Greg a 6.On to next Sunday .

The Resolution

Ok so it's a new year , so time for a new Years Resolutions . 2009 is gone and here comes 2010 . So what for a resolution ? Lose weight , maybe but been there done that. Do more ? Learn more ? Live more ? My husband had, quit bad habits , my daughter was too learn piano , my son he had no clue. Then it hit me , why not something for our entire family .Why not something that we will all benefit from , not just now but later in life. Something that will change our lives forever .
First I will let everyone know I'm new at this blogging thing & tell about us more. We are a kinda typical crazy family. The res me the Mom aka Lindsey . I'm 30 years old , lived in the same town my whole life .I'm a stay at home mom aka housemaid , taxi driver , really what the nanny should be doing if we had one. Then there's Greg he's really old , he is 33 . He is the best dad & must have a lot of patience to be married to me ! Then there is the people that make all the mess . Our daughter is 13 years old , shes not a typical teenager. Shes kind & sweet & still a little girl at heart. Our son is 12 years old & he is a typical teenager , but we still keep him around ! Really hes a great kid also , very talented . Then 2 pugs , 1 dog , 1 cat , 15 chickens , 2 roosters , 3 ducks & some fish. I was raised a Southern Baptist then became Mormon for awhile. Greg he was a more Christmas , funeral church man .
So our Resolution is to find a church , religion that fits us.There is so many churches out there , Free Will , Temples , Jewish , Pentecostal , Nondenominational , Methodist , Gospel , Evangelical , Lds & so many more . How do you pick your church ? Religion ? Is it just what you were raised ? Is it well we went here as kids so might as well ? Well this fits us 50% so its good enough right now ? We have 52 Sundays , 365 days through it all we are studying , learning , exploring & finding our way.
